Perioperative management of acquired TEF repair in a child with Hodgkin’s lymphoma: a case report

Abstract Background Acquired tracheoesophageal fistula (TEF) is a rare presentation in pediatric lymphoma patients. Most heal spontaneously following chemotherapy/radiotherapy without requiring surgery. Case A 10-year-old child presented with persistent after completion of chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The mid-tracheal location the had significant implications terms airway management. Securing microcuff tube helped meet goals achieving adequate ventilation while preventing contamination and permitting repair any complication. Conclusions index case posed surgical anesthetic challenges due to size fistula. However, timely intervention improved quality life as well that parents.
